HOMEMADE STRAWBERRY POP-TARTS WITH STRAWBERRY GLAZE

Your family and friends will be feeling the love this Valentine’s Day with this recipe for Homemade Strawberry Poptarts. Believe it or not, homemade poptarts are extremely easy to make and even better than the store-bought versions. We used a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut our pop-tarts into festive hearts. You can use any type of cookie cutter or even just cut into squares if you prefer. After baking, blend a strawberry glaze with Crunchies Freeze-Dried Strawberries and ice onto the pop-tarts. Don’t forget to top your pop-tarts with a sprinkle of Crunchies Freeze-Dried Strawberries. Yummy!

12 Servings

TOTAL TIME: 45 Minutes

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 Sheets of Puff Pastry, thawed
  • Strawberry Jelly
  • 2 tbsp of Egg Whites
  • 1 Cup of Crunchies Freeze-Dried Strawberries, Divided
  • 1 Cup of Powdered Sugar
  • 1 Tbsp of Lemon Juice
  • 2 Tbsp of Milk

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat the oven at 375.
  2. Using a heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut hearts into puff pastry. Make sure there are two hearts for each pop-tart wanted.
  3. Lay cut hearts on parchment paper on a baking sheet. Place a small dollop (about 2 tsp) of strawberry jelly into the center of the heart.
  4. Use a second heart to place on top of the jelly and a fork to seal the edges. This will help ensure the jelly does not spill out of your pop-tart while baking.
  5. Bake for 8-10 minutes.
  6. While your pop-tart is baking, make your homemade Strawberry glaze.
  7. Set aside ¼ Cup of Crunchies Freeze-dried Strawberries.
  8. Add remaining Crunchies Freeze-Dried Strawberries to a blender to create a powder.
  9. Add powdered sugar, milk and lemon juice to blender and mix until smooth.
  10. Once pop-tarts have cooled, add your glaze.
  11. Crush freeze-dried strawberries in your hand and top pop-tarts.
  12. These will keep in the refrigerator for a week. Enjoy!
